About Me
My name is Christian Giannotti and I am a photographer, filmmaker, environmentalist, and the owner of the brand My Eco-Journal. I grew up on Long Island, New York. A curious child, I was fascinated by the world and always had the heart for adventures. When I was not creating my own, I was living vicariously through the cable television. It was here where I learned of the beauty of our planet, watching history, nature, and science shows when most children would be watching cartoons. As Youtube grew in popularity, I latched on to those early creators that were traveling the world and imagined myself in their place one day.
The curiosity in that child was not satiated, but rather grew, and I decided I wanted to do something to explore and improve our world. I studied Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts, where I gained a unique perspective on the interaction between our cities and nature. I learned how we can reverse the destructive effects of climate change and create a sustainable path forward to the benefit of everyone. College was also when I bought my first camera, with the desire to capture and share my own adventures. Through small trips between school, I was able to explore this hobby and find joy in the process of capturing nature with my camera. I realized quickly that this was the way to make my dreams a reality.
After some years of trial and error, of unsatisfying desk jobs and intermittent photography trips, this dream cementing itself further into my being, I decided to go all-in. I saved up all I could to travel long term, and finally hit the road. I wanted to fully immerse myself in the process of photography, filmmaking and growing as a creator. My vision was to bring all these aspects from my life into this one brand: My Eco-Journal, which brings us to today.
I am currently traveling in Asia to photograph and film wildlife, sharing my own adventures with a growing online community. Through my content, I hope I inspire others to travel and reconnect with nature. I aim to show how accessible nature-based travel can be, even in foreign countries, and prove that ‘eco-tourism’ does not have to be expensive. My mission is to provide practical travel advice, bring awareness to environmental issues and teach others how to live a sustainable lifestyle.
Experiencing nature is not only one of the best ways to find joy, happiness and meaning, but is also the best way to foster compassion and understanding, something paramount to the protection of a suffering natural world. We may not be able to reverse the climate crisis overnight, but we do have the power to implement eco-friendly actions in our own lives, striving for a higher standard of living which will pave the way towards a more sustainable future.
